Recreational soccer is a fun and participation driven league designed for learning and enjoyment of playing the game. Our recreation division is broken down into two categories, Junior Recreation which comprised of U8 and below (see age chart at the bottom for guidance) and General Recreation which includes age groups U9 through U15. All our recreation teams are coached by volunteers. There are no tryouts for recreation teams, it is open to any player regardless of ability or experience in the sport.
Our Juniors Recreation program is designed to introduce players to the sport of soccer. In this program they will be exposed the fundamentals of the sport to include dribbling, passing and the most basic rules of the game. Our junior recreation teams only play other CASA teams so there is no travel outside of Sneads Ferry. No records are kept, scores from matches are not recorded, and officiating is done by the coaches. Our U3/U4 and U5/U6 teams typically practice once a week and play games on Fridays. Our U7/U8 teams usually practice twice a week (pending coach availability) and play games over the weekends. Teams are coed at this age.
Once players enter the U9 and older divisions the format for recreation changes. Team standings are kept and CASA teams play against teams from other clubs located in Eastern North Carolina. The season typically lasts two and a half months and culminates with an end of season tournament. Players in recreational soccer are guaranteed participation in two quarters or one half of each game if they participate constructively in at least one practice per week unless the coach notifies and gives reasonable justification to the player, his/her parents or guardian, and the opposing coach prior to the game. There are separate boys and girls divisions for players from U9 - U15
